Our friend Chrysa requested our help to change the decoration in her bedroom. And this meant that we took the chance!
Chrysa’s bedroom is an easy room. Relatively spacious, with a large closet and quite bright as we finally discovered! Since Chrysa’s major problem was just that. She wanted a bright room! She didn’t want to change furniture, so the only piece of furniture that we moved away was a massive extra wardrobe that «strangled» the space and the only furniture we bought was the white clothes rack. The arrangement of the furniture remained original, so the makeover concerned purely the decoration side. Duvet, pillows, rugs, curtains and mirror were the things that have been replaced.
The color of the wall was light blue. Chrysa wasn’t fond of it. Also, the dark gray-purple duvet cover, the curtains and the dark wooden floor gave a dark impression. So we decided to move to brighter and neutral colors on walls and fabrics. We didn’t load the walls with many frames on purpose, but because we wanted a lighter feeling. Specifically, for the wall behind the bed, we had the following options; firstly the whole wall to be painted in a shade darker than the rest of the room and remain empty, secondly to put a large canvas or frame just above the bed and thirdly to place smaller frames left and right of the bed. Chrysa preferred the third option.
The room was painted in a shade of gray, in particular we used Benjamin Moore Wish. It’s dark enough to create a nice contrast with white. Also, we choose duvet, pillows, and rugs in gray shades that Chrysa loves. Because we didn’t play with a lot of colors, to avoid the room being boring, we played with the patterns. Thin stripes in the duvet cover, thicker stripes on the rug and a geometric pattern on the other one. Of course, we replaced the curtains with white ones. And I say “of course” because it is the safest option as they provide more light in the space and highlight the colors you choose without altering them.
On the wall opposite the bed, there was only a small dresser, over which a round mirror was placed and we gave the dresser a more girlish touch. The cake base as a basis for perfume and cosmetics instead of the usual baskets is a great idea, isn’t it? We, however, loved it!
Next, to the dresser, we put a clothes rack, in a very simple line to match the style of the rest of the room. The truth is that in the beginning Chrysa was a little hesitant but eventually we persuaded her and indeed she liked it. Surely you have a chair, a stool or a dresser in your room where there is a stack of clothes. Clothes that you wore for a while or you have just tried them on but finally, you chose something else so you don’t put them back in the closet because you will use them again in a few hours or tomorrow. This clothes rack will save you! It will tidy up the chaos in style!
Now, regarding the frames and posters, some are patterns we found online and some, e.g. the geometrical motifs and the lyrics of one of Chrysa’s favorite songs that I designed in Adobe InDesign. And I am really excited because you can draw whatever you want by specifying colors, layout, and fonts and then printed on paper poster or canvas. The only requirement is imagination and you can easily give a personal touch to your space.
Do you like the bedroom makeover? I think that we gave the space a fresh look to the space! Do you agree? Chrysa, thank you very much for showing us confidence and we hope you enjoy the new look into your bedroom!
